Oktoberfest Opening times Drinking hours
  • Opening day 12:00 noon - 10:30 pm
    (between 10 and 12 am only non-alcoholic beverages and small snacks)
  • Weekdays 10:00am - 10:30 pm
  • Saturday, Sunday & holiday 09:00 am - 10:30 pm
  • Daily closing hour 11:30 pm
  • “Käfers Wiesnschänke” and “Wine Tent” open until 1:00 am, last drinks at 12:15 am
  • Family days: Tuesday, September 23th and September 30th, from noon to
    6:00 pm., (discounts for fairground attractions, admissons and sales).

How to get to the Wies’n

  • U-Bahn (underground): Lines U3 and U6 to Goetheplatz or Poccistrasse,
  • U4 and U5 to Schwanthalerhöhe or Theresienwiese (very crowded).
  • S-Bahn (suburban train): Lines S1-8 to Hackerbrücke.
  • Tram: Lines 18 and 19 to Hermann-Lingg-Strasse or Holzapfelstrasse.
  • Bus: Route 131 or 132 to Hans-Fischer-Strasse, route 134 to Theresienhöhe.
  • Taxi stands: To be found all around the Oktoberfest grounds.
  • Tourist bus parking: Southern part of the Theresienwiese and Hansastrasse.
  • Camper: Parking facilities at the Messegelände Riem (De-Gasperi-Bogen) and in the Siegenburgerstrasse.

    Saturday, 18. September 2010 - Opening parade
    Start: 10:45 am and lasts about 45 minutes
    Route: Sonnenstraße-Schwanthaler-straße to the Oktoberfest grounds - Theresienwiese. This is the official prelude to the opening of the Oktoberfest and involves about 1,000 participants, including the landlords’ families in decorated carriages, the magnificent horse-drawn drays of the Munich breweries, waitresses on decorated floats and all the beer tent bands.

    Sunday, 19. Sept. 2010- Oktoberfest Costume & Riflemen’s Parade Start: 10:00 am and lasts 2 - 2 1/2 hours
    Route: Max II. Denkmal, Maximi-lianstraße, Residenzstraße, Odeonsplatz, Platz der Opfer des Nationalsozialismus, Lenbachplatz, Karlsplatz-Stachus, Sonnenstraße, Schwanthalerstraße, Paul-Heyse-Straße, Georg-Hirth-Platz, Kaiser-Ludwig-Platz, to the Oktoberfest grounds.

    Saturday, 26. September - Open-Air Oktoberfest Music
    Start: 11 am (If the weather is bad, the concert will be postponed until Sunday, 3rd October)
    Venue: on the steps of the Bavaria statue. About 400 musicians take part in this big band open-air concert.
